As all good weekends do, our 25th Leader’s Gathering stated off with good food, heartwarming conversations and a glass of wine. We came just as we were, some hearts heavy, others full but all ready to share and be held by each other and our loving Father.
The brave among us dipped at Putsborough as the sun rose whereas others saw in the new day with a time of prayer and a devotional by Jonathan Ellse. Though the swell didn’t bless us, one or two did catch a few easy peelers.
It was a poignant time being Phil’s last Leader’s Gathering as National Director and others such as the legendary Mike Scott, who was been with CSUK from day one, Malcolm Lee and Helen Rundle were stepping back from their time on the Trustee Board. We spent time reflecting on the last 30+ years of CSUK, the highs and lows, the people that have given so much and the faithfulness of the Lord throughout.
We celebrated, hugged and prayed for those who had faithfully served the mission and embraced the future with open arms.
It was a pleasure to have Roy Harley, CSI Director, with us for the weekend. He shared the strategy for the International mission, although that phrase can often sound cooperate, there was nothing formal in Roy’s heart felt encouragement to us to Live the Call and do what the Father is calling us to.
Chelsea Holter lead us through a practical session on how we can activate the UK 2034 vision in our local chapters. We wrapped up the day around the campfire, toasting marshmallows. As the moon rose Ben Lillie facilitated a time of storytelling and created space for leaders to be heard and pray for each other.
As we all know, moments like this always end too soon. Sunday, Pippa lead us through a devotional, Trish Ellse shared an update on the Surfers Bible project and practical training available to all CSUK leaders. Alice Ovenden commissioned us through communion and landed the weekend in peace.
We’d like to thank both Mary & Sue for feeding us so well, the Springates for leading us in worship, Andy Holter for photography, the team at St George’s House for hosting and all those who contributed and shared throughout the weekend.
