After numerous discussions with key stakeholders of the 32nd Jesus Surf Classic, due to have been held at Croyde Bay, North Devon, the tough decision has been taken to postpone this weekend’s event (21-22 September).
As always it is a very difficult call. We don’t believe there will be surfable conditions to run over 16 hours of surfing, with 140+ competitors in eight different categories ranging from under 12s to over 35s. It also wouldn’t be feasible to split the event as we have done in the past.
Although we are aware that conditions even at this stage could change, we think it’s only fair to give as much advance notice as possible to competitors, support crew and those travelling from across the country, which is why we have made the decision earlier than we would normally. All those who have entered or volunteered were sent an email on Tuesday 17 September. If you haven’t received this, then please get in touch office@christiansurfers.co.uk
We are looking at alternative dates and those who are in the current draw, along with any reserves, will be contacted about their options once a new date has been set.
A huge thanks for all the support for those involved in this event, in particular we’d like to thank Parkdean for their willingness to host us, the RNLI for their support, all the CSUK volunteers, the local churches and local surf community.
We are looking forward (God willing) to welcoming everyone back when we can run all the categories in good competitive conditions, over the course of one weekend.
