Christian Surfers UK have partnered with Groundswell Aid to support a local leader in Bureh Beach, Sierra Leone to develop a new CS Chapter.
THE STORY
Steven is a local surfer in Bureh Beach, Sierra Leone, with a clear vision to start a Christian Surfers group that helps young surfers grow in faith, community, and purpose. Last year, Billa, a South African who is working with Mercy Ships in Freetown, reached out to the team at Groundswell Aid. After meeting Steven, he saw his heart and vision for the community and shared the story. The team wanted to support local leaders and started putting things in place to support Steven as he begins this new chapter.
At the CSUK Camp Out, we gathered devotional resources to be sent along with the boards to Bureh Beach. We prayed over one of the surfboards that was sent and covered it with words of blessing and encouragement.
Through a grant application and a partnership with RYD UK, a full set of surfboards are currently on the Mercy Ships with Billa on route to Sierra Leone. These boards along with the resources will allow Steven to run surf sessions, start a club, and create a sustainable, faith-based space for the next generation.
THE NEED
We would like to also make you part of this story by helping us with the final stretch in shipping the boards to Sierra Leone, to help Steven impact his local beach community.
We’re now raising £2,000 to cover the distance of shipping of 2610 miles from the UK to Bureh Beach: FIND OUT MORE HERE and WATCH THE VIDEO HERE.
