Fat Face Night Surf UK Pro Tour

The Fat Face Night Surf was the second leg of the UK Pro Tour. Once again Christian Surfers were asked to be a part of it and assist in the running of the event.
Our main tasks over the weekend was again to provide a beach marshal, sell raffle tickets for the Jack Johnson gig at Watergate Bay, raising money for surf relief and helping to pack down.
The week running up to the event had produced a lot of swell with heavy on shores winds, which lastest throughout the weekend. Lusty Glaze provided enough shelter from the wind to give the surfers testing but very contestable conditions. Friday and Saturday saw the Open, Womens and Longboards compeat for the title. Nick White took the Open and Nicole Morgan continues to dominate the Ladies division by taking the first place. Ben Skinner dominated the longboard division, starting his campaign with a 10 point ride in his first heat - boosting an air! The Sunday saw the Groms battle it out for the title. Ed Smith continues to impress as he took the Under 12's, Zoe Sheath took the under 16 girls and Toby Donachie continues to dominate the under 16's division by making it two out of two.
A big thanks goes to Andrew Carruthers, Karl Derbyshire (who hitch hiked from Devon!) Mark, Pippa, Dave, Alice, Luke and Claire for all their help over the weekend. Over £150 was raised for Surf Relief and we had some great conversations with people. It's some times hard to see what God is doing when you are in the middle of the action, but afterwards it was really good to think back to the people we met, the conversations we had and the relationships that have developed over time.
A special thanks goes to Karl and Dave who helped carry all the PA equipment up the steps off the beach, which if you have seen the steps at Lusty you'll appreciate the effort!
